I don't know if True Horror is an actual subgenre but I had a chance to give it a shot. During a visit to Prague recently, I was admiring the fabulous Astronomical Clock in the main square while wife read about its creation. I was horrified to learn that its creator was blinded in 1410 by the city leader so that he couldn't build a better clock for a rival city! Hence after much research I wrote The Clock Meister's Revenge. It was reviewed by my BSFA Orbit 2 group and accepted for publication by a newish publication, Peasant Magazine.
